Focus On Your Goals With This Mindset for Gamers | Combination Attack

from Geek Psychology: Play Life Better

Send me a textImagine if there was a way to overcome any challenge or achieve any goal. What would your life look like then? How calm, happy and confident would you be? In this mindset video, I talk about how I got my life on track by building self-discipline which allowed me to win at the game of life. But more importantly, I hope that by watching it, you are inspired to find ways to improve yourself. So let's talk about self-discipline. Let's talk about how you can use your video gaming experience and understanding of RPGs to build self-discipline, to develop better skills, to become more focused on the people around you and the goals that you set for yourself. When you have self discipline, you are able to build motivation to push through difficult situations and make decisions that lead to success even when it would be easier to do the opposite. Self-discipline is often about making short-term sacrifices for long-term gain. It's about saying no to things that might be fun in the moment but aren't ultimately going to help you achieve your goals. For example, if you're trying to lose weight, you might have to say no to going out for ice cream with your friends. Or if you're trying out for a sports team, you might have to skip parties so that you can focus on practicing. In the short term, it can be hard to stick with your goals when everyone else around you seems like they 're having more fun. However, in the long term, you'll be proud of yourself for making the right choices over and over again. Self-discipline can also help you to stick with tough tasks even when they feel overwhelming or unpleasant. If you're trying to learn a new skill — like playing an instrument or speaking another language — it can be hard to keep practicing day after day. It will take time before you feel like you're making progress, and it might be tempting to stop working when things get tough. However, if you have self-discipline, you'll be able to stick with your practice schedule until it feels natural. You won't need motivational speech videos or tips because you're driven by a bigger goal.
