God gives us mountaintop experiences so that we can know more about him, and be better equipped to live by faith. When Jesus and his 3 disciples descend into the valley, they are confronted with the fact that the disciples need to have their hearts recalibrated. The world came to them for help, and because their faith was misplaced it led to a frustrating experience for everyone. Jesus reminds them that the work of God cannot be accomplished without faith in God.
