Following the Footsteps of Christ: 1 Peter 2: 18-25: Day 11

Jesus not only died to save us from sin, He also showed us how to faithfully endure suffering.Peter points suffering believers to the greatest example they could every follow, Jesus himself. Christ did not suffer because He had done wrong. He suffered though He was perfectly innocent. When He was insulted, He did not retaliate. When He suffered, He did not threaten revenge. Instead, He entrusted Himself to the Father, knowing that God is the perfect and righteous Judge. Peter isn't saying suffering is good in itself. He's reminds us that when we suffer for doing what is right, we are following the path Jesus first walked. And because Jesus bore our sins on the cross, we not only have an example to imitate, we have a Savior who has already secured our redemption.Reflection: Where is God inviting you to trust His justice instead of trying to take matters into your own hands?
