Sermon Outline Following the Spirit’s Detours and Directions Acts 16:6-12 ○ The Spirit’s Detours—“…had prevented them…” ▪ detoured from traveling due east into Asia (v. 6) ▪ deciding to travel north toward Bithynia (v. 7a) ▪ detoured from traveling into Bithynia (v. 7b) ▪ deciding to travel west into Mysia, then to Troas (v. 8) We can be assured that when the Spirit detours ourprevious decisions and plans, He will give us discernmentand patience to follow obediently. ○ The Spirit’s Directions—“pleading with them” ▪ a dream directing them northwest into Macedonia (vv. 9-10) ▪ deciding to travel northwest to Salmothrace and Neapolis (v.11), then Philippi (v. 12) We can be assured that when the Spirit gives us detours, He will later give usdirections and destinations.
