Food Prices May Rise Again

Food prices could be set to rise again, with warnings that a prolonged drought and rising production costs could add as much as €1,000 a year to the average family’s food bill.     Farmers are dealing with falling yields, shortages of fodder and rising input costs, while low-income families are already under significant financial pressure.  To discuss the impact on farmers and consumers, Alan Morrissey was joined by Cratloe-based farmers’ representative and former ICMSA General Secretary Eddie Punch, and Clare SVP President Gerardine Cotter.
