Fools' Gold

Shiny pyrite can look like gold while leaving its pursuers empty. Covetousness works the same way, quietly teaching the heart to seek security and identity in possessions or experiences rather than God. Jesus does not condemn the farmer’s wealth, but his self-centred love of it; death exposes that stored goods cannot secure his soul.
