Even knowing Judas would betray Him that night, Jesus included him in this symbolic purification. When Peter protested, Jesus made a profound statement: "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me," followed by a mysterious observation that not everyone present was truly clean. This wasn't about external religious purity but heart transformation that changes how we think about and speak to each other. The disciples had witnessed three years of Jesus's teaching and miracles yet still competed with one another instead of serving in love. God is removing these same impurities today so His church can experience the unity Jesus prayed for in John 17—not uniformity of style but unity of heart comparable to the perfect harmony within the Trinity. This purification isn't punishment but preparation for greater glory and authentic kingdom power. Ready for clean hearts and servant hands?
