Foozle

from Word of the Day · host Word of the Day

Foozle is a verb that means to bungle or play clumsily. Our word of the day is derived from the German word fusein (FOOZ een) which means ‘work badly.’ It often refers to a botched attempt at something. Because I hadn’t played golf in over a decade, my first swing wound up being a real foozle. Not only did the ball not go where I wanted it to, it wound up landing on a completely different golf course.
