Postures play a large role in building or rebuilding a sturdy faith. It is easy to assume a posture of arrogance and self-righteousness, believing that we have it all figured out and can learn nothing from anyone outside of ourselves. It is also easy to assume a posture of despair or perpetual cynicism, losing all expectations for God to meet us along the way. Both of these postures can be incredibly harmful to our faith journey. When Paul prays that God would build on the foundation he gave the Ephesians in Christ, he prays from a totally different and subversive posture—one of humility, curiosity, and confidence.
