For Your Information - Aug 13th - HPV-Related Cancers Moon Shot program

Guests were Dr. Erich Sturgis co-leader of the HPV-Related Cancers Moon Shot program at MD Anderson, and his patient, Mr. Bert Noojin. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has launched an ambitious and comprehensive action plan, called the Moon Shots Program™, targeting several major cancers, including HPV-related cancer. We talked about what HPV is, how it is spread, the cancers it causes, and how important it is to vaccinate boys as well as girls. We also talked about how there is currently no way to screen for throat cancer caused by HPV, and Dr. Sturgis’ new study to find a way to screen men and women for throat cancer caused by HPV.
