On For Your Information this week, my guest is Vanesa Brashier, Editor of the Cleveland Advocate and other newspapers, as well as a member of the Unity Committee, a nonprofit organization which promotes the Greater Cleveland Area. She told listeners one of the ways the Unity Committee does this is to organize and produce free special events during the year. One of its most successful such endeavors is Treat Street, a Halloween Carnival where local businesses provide booths that children up to 12 years may get free holiday candy and treats all in one safe area, this year at the Cleveland Civic Center. Brashier said the event which drew just a couple of hundred kids the first year and grown to the point more than 6,000 children received bags full of goodies in 2016, is expected to have an even greater participation this Halloween.
