Forbidden Cinema 54 - Speed - Going Deeper

from Forbidden Cinema · host ForbiddenCinema

Welcome back to Forbidden Cinema.  This week we go deeper on the 1994 action film, Speed.  We figure out the Keanu timeline, try to place his accent, and try to figure out why Sad Keanu is so sad and how to make him happy again.  Showgirls, Dolly Parton, and Alice Cooper all show up in some form or another.  We discuss briefly the tragic story of River Phoenix. We mythbust the crap out of some of the physics of this film.  We also are able to find detailed specs for both the cars and the guns and determine if they behave appropriately.  We dig into the history of the screenwriter and directors.  Guess what, Jon de Bont was involved in the making of our first featured film, Basic Instinct.   We probably go deeper on the upskirt shot than anyone ever has, but still fail to make the connection to Basic Instinct.  We hit up Jeff Daniels and the most recent smoking characters in film.  Zack goes on a crazy tangent about Ducktales The Movie and gives some information from a source that begins to seem "suspect".   We briefly hit up Speed 2 and then dive into Playboy December 1994.  We discover how pivotal 1994 will be in the Forbidden Timeline and uncover another tragic story of a Playmate gone too young.
