and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. (Matthew 6:12 ESV) Let me just be honest. One of my greatest struggles both personally and in ministry is bitterness. We tell our kids 'sticks and stones' are the only thing that break bones, but things that people have said sting for a long, long time. You add that to hurtful actions and you have a recipe for unforgiveness. How do we deal with that? Here in the Lord's Prayer, Jesus teaches us that a vital part of prayer is confession that clears our relationship with God and must affect our relationship with others.
