Forgiven, Empowered, and Sent

Pastor John S. Dickerson closes the gospel of Luke with Jesus’ final words before ascending to heaven. After rising from the dead, Jesus explains that all of Scripture pointed to His suffering, His resurrection, and the global mission that would follow. He declares the core message the disciples must carry: “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.” Then Jesus promises the Holy Spirit—God’s own power—who will fill believers and equip them to take this message to the nations. Pastor John reminds us that we, like those first disciples, are witnesses of Jesus’ forgiveness and are empowered by His Spirit to share hope with the world.
