Forgiven - NOT Free to Sin

You hear it all the time, John 3:16... whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. But John did not end there. John 3:16 could be the summation at the end of a courtroom scene. John closes with 3:21 "But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God." Abiding in Christ is to understand The Cost. Belief is an ongoing action, not something you did at the altar by raising your hand and saying a prayer. If you are not living out your belief, then you a living in the same hypocrisy that Jesus accused the Pharisees of. Belief is an ongoing action of the heart. Confession without obedience is hypocrisy. Christ is saving you every day... not just the day of your death. Your confession of guilt and turning away from the sin for which you are guilty is the only way Jesus can assume the debt. If you leave the courtroom to simply return to the crime of your confession, nothing has saved you.
