Forgiveness

from Every Day Is A Story Hosted by Anita Ambi

Offense can be very tricky. You could decide to gloss over it and say, "I forgive this person," then keep your distance from the person only to find out that your action is borne out of malice rather than forgiveness. Scripture is clear: if we don't forgive, our heavenly father won't forgive us. Plus, we receive God's forgiveness only as we forgive those who offend us. There are justifiable reasons to hold unto an offense. However, as a Christian, will you violate scripture and deny yourself such goodness of God? While forgiveness is not reconciliation, there's a thin line between the two that works both ways: you could reconcile but still have a grudge or, reconcile and keep your distance with malice. Yes, there are situations where you could forgive and not be close but let that only be without malice. Also, what if you're the offender? Are you quick to ask for forgiveness or do you feel entitled to it? Listen and ponder.
