They’re grouped up on main-lake points, secondary points, and deep brush piles, mostly in 12 to 20 feet. A lot of guys are catching them on big swimbaits and big flutters, especially around the deeper humps and creek channels. If you’re sight-fishin’ shallow, a slow-rolled spinnerbait or a big jig around the remaining green cover can still pick up a kicker. Crappie are starting to stack up on deep brush and standing timber in the 15 to 25-foot range. Most of the recent reports are of fish in the 10 to 14-inch range, with a few bigger ones mixed in. Small jigs on a vertical presentation are the ticket, and a little bit of minnow under the jig can really seal the deal. Catfish are still active, especially on trotlines and jug lines in the deeper holes and along the main channel. Blue cats and flatheads are the main targets, and cut bait or live bait on the bottom is the way to go. Two hot spots to try today: the main lake points near the dam and the deep brush piles out in the middle of the main basin.
