Formation: Putting on Christ // Week 4 // Faith: Trust that Protects Pastors JF & Ashley Wilkerson Pacific Church Ephesians 6:10-16 NIV  10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Hebrews 11:1 NIV  Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Exodus 17:8 NIV 8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Ephesians 5:25b-26 NIV  25…just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word... Exodus 17:9 NIV  9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” Exodus 4:1-2 NIV  Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” 2 Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied. WHAT IS YOUR HERITAGE? 2) WHAT’S IN YOUR HAND? Exodus 17:10-11 NIV  10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses (with his staff), Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. Exodus 17:12 NIV 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. WHAT IS YOUR HERITAGE? 2) WHAT’S IN YOUR HAND? 3) WHO ARE YOU HOLDING? Galatians 6:2 NIV  2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. James 5:15 NASB  16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Exodus 17:13 & 15 NIV  13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. 15 Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner.
