Formenton Returns to Oilers After Suspension | Calgary News

Alex Formenton’s NHL comeback is official—he’s signed a one-year, $850K deal with the Edmonton Oilers after a turbulent off-ice chapter. Once suspended from Hockey Canada following a 2018 incident involving Canada’s World Junior team, Formenton was the only player among five acquitted of sexual assault charges to be cleared for immediate return to play. The others, including NHLers Carter Hart and Dillon Dube, still face suspensions. At 26, Formenton brings experience from his time in Switzerland and over 100 NHL games with Ottawa, where he racked up solid stats. His return signals a fresh start—and fans are eager to see how he’ll perform on the ice for the Oilers this season.
