Former Coach Accused of Rape | Miami News

A former high school football coach and corrections officer in Miami-Dade has been arrested on a first-degree felony charge for allegedly raping a 17-year-old student in 2012 while he was coaching at American Senior High School. The incident occurred when he entered the athletic office, turned off the lights, and assaulted her — who reportedly froze in shock. The warrant also alleges three additional consensual encounters before she turned 18, followed by a continued consensual relationship at her home while still in high school. Jones, who worked at the school from 2007 to 2019 and later served with Miami-Dade Corrections, has been relieved of duty pending investigation. Authorities stress they are cooperating fully and will take appropriate action based on findings, while protecting the integrity of the ongoing probe.
