Former Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila has been sentenced to death for war crimes and treason. Kabila led the DRC from 2001 to 2019 after the assassination of his father, former President Laurent Kabila. He has denied any wrongdoing and has accused the government of his successor, Felix Tshisekedi, of using the courts for political ends.
