Former Guardians Pitcher Debuting Against His Old Team | Cleveland Guardians News

A former Guardians farmhand, Matt Wilkinson—nicknamed “Tugboat”—might be making his big league debut right here in Cleveland. Traded to the Giants in May for catcher Patrick Bailey, the 6’1”, 250-pound lefty posted a 6-6 record with a 3.40 ERA this season across four levels, including a stellar 1.59 ERA in six Double-A starts. With an open spot on Wednesday’s rotation and the Giants facing the Guardians, he could take the mound against his former team—while Bailey, now in Cleveland, is hitting .208 with five homers.
