Fostering a Christ-Animated, Relational Community: Dr Candace McQueen, President of Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN

Dr. Candice McQueen has served in various roles at Lipscomb University since 2001 and became the 18th president in 2021. Notably, she is the first female chief executive officer of a university associated with the Churches of Christ. Before her current role, she served as the CEO of the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching and as the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Education.Dr. McQueen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lipscomb University, a Master of Education in school administration from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University, and a Ph.D. in curriculum studies from the University of Texas. Before joining Lipscomb, she taught at private and public elementary and middle schools in Texas and Nashville, including Lipscomb Academy.Dr. McQueen is a native of Clarksville, Tennessee, and is a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ in Nashville. She and her husband, Andy, also a Lipscomb graduate, have two children: Abigail, a senior at Lipscomb University, and Henry, a senior at Lipscomb Academy.Connect with us!
