Foundations | The God Who Is

Join us this week as Mike discusses who God is from Moses’ encounter at the burning bush in Exodus 3. God is the self-existent I AM—real, independent, and unbound like fire that burns without fuel—unlike the regional gods of Egypt or any version we might shape by our preferences. He sees, hears, and intimately knows the sufferings of His people and comes down to deliver them. This holy God wants to be known as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, yet His presence is so set apart that a mediator is needed so we are not consumed. In Jesus, who claimed the name I AM, God redeems us from a deeper slavery to sin by taking our suffering on Himself. He then sends ordinary, unqualified people with the promise, “I will be with you,” transforming them for His glory. Turn aside and come see how He can do that in you.
