Four Four Premiere: Gunjack - Stormbells [Earwiggle]

Earwiggle welcomes a debut on the label from Brian Gibbs, aka GUNJACK!!! A string of dynamite early releases on Birmingham's Sheep Records and his own Deafmosaic imprint, set this LA producer out from the crowd in the early to mid-'00s, quickly amassing a long list of in-your-face EPs across a range of scene-leading labels. His dark, percussive techno stylings coupled with a larger-than-life character made him one of the community's most colourful personalities, who we've always greatly appreciated. Renewing his deep connection with techno in recent times and following on from a run of high-pressure dub techno offerings via his new label and collective Dubwars, Gunjack supplies us with four crunching club tracks in "Purple Room Trax Volume 1". Here he employs spiralling FM leads on the a-side with “Arson ‘78” and “Plastic Horns” while alternating between the suspenseful sirens of “Stormbells” and swarming, looped up the power of “Liquid Crystals” on the flip. Unlike many one-take live techno recordings, Gunjack's meticulously tweaked style leaves no fat, with a dynamic force that'll send the dancefloor into pandemonium.
