from Four Four Magazine · host Four Four Magazine

We premiere new music from a bonafide techno legend, The Miller. The Swedish techno veteran pumps new life into 7 funk-driven tracks from his early 2000s vault via the Spanish imprint Bunkers Collective. We premiere ‘Tuve’, a high-octane hardgroove thriller that’s laced with punishing low-end and syncopated chord stabs. For Bunkers Collectives‘ second release, the Spanish imprint welcomes one of the godfathers of Swedish techno, The Miller. With more than 30 years of experience producing unadulterated techno funk, The Miller makes a triumphant return to our sound systems as the early 2000s sound has its day in the sunshine once again. and the EP is made out of 7 old tribal archive tracks that were cooked between 2000-2004. The title Hisingen is the island where he grew up and all the track names are places of the above the mentioned. The time-capsule style EP has all the delicate warmth of early 2000s production techniques with some modern-day power sprinkled on top. We premiere ‘Tuve’ a pummelling tribal groove that sails around 140bpm. Sharp delays and drum shuffles make this minimal groove continuously evolving and unapologetically relentless. The chord stabs seem like a reference to ‘Devilfish – Manalive’, although a little tougher in its exterior. This is a classy early 2000’s techno anthem, if you’re making hardgroove, do your homework. This is no bullshit, proper techno.
