Framed For Murder

from Tonto: Tales of the Lone Ranger · host OTRPODS

Originally Aired: May 11, 1938The Lone Ranger #825, "Framed For Murder," the Masked Man and Tonto arrive in the town of Potsdam to find the streets deserted. Everyone has gathered at the courthouse for the trial of young Bob McAllister, accused of murdering Joe Findlay and robbing him of valuable bonds. Only old Lem Purvis remains outside, and he's convinced that Bob has been framed by someone in town. Despite damning evidence—including the murder knife found in Bob's desk at the express office and his lack of an alibi—Lem insists the young man is innocent based on his years of judging character. The jury quickly returns a guilty verdict, and Judge sentences Bob to hang at sunrise. Bob's only concern is for his ailing mother, who needs money he has hidden away, but he refuses to tell anyone in town where it is, fearing the real killer will steal it. Deputy Larson shows sympathy for the condemned man, while Sheriff Green remains cold and suspicious. As Bob sits alone in his cell that night, the Lone Ranger and Tonto approach the jail, determined to uncover the truth and save an innocent man from the gallows.
