Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope | Victorian Romance, Clergy, Society & Moral Conflict Audiobook Part 3
from The Audiobook Vault: Catholic Sacred & Classic Voices from the Past · host The Audiobook Vault: Catholic
⭐ Catholic Review — 4.5/5 Stars A particularly interesting Trollope novel from a Catholic perspective because it examines Christian virtue, temptation, pride, conscience, honesty, social ambition, forgiveness, and the responsibilities of clergy. Mark Robarts is not portrayed as an evil man; rather, his weakness and desire for advancement lead him into serious trouble, making his story a useful study of temptation and moral responsibility. The novel's Anglican setting is obviously not Catholic, and Trollope's treatment of religion is literary and social rather than theological. Highly recommended for its nuanced exploration of Christian morality, human weakness, and the difference between genuine virtue and religious appearances.
