Hello. Hello. Say start every episode. I just like how about you.
That's all actually. Welcome to Halloween. Hello viewers. A horror movie podcast.
I'm Cody. And I'm Kira. I just want to more listeners if there's any moments of, they sound nervous. It's because we have a new microphone set up and we are literally across the face each other.
We have to make eye contact which when you're an introverted person is the worst thing. I do love looking in your face. Yeah, you do. Oh my god.
You're lying. Okay. I'm having fun. What are we talking about?
I don't know what to do. Wait a minute. I'm on into this. Doctor, I'm sorry.
My movie is so boring. Talking about Frankenstein. The original. That was a shady opening.
I want to show my hand to early listeners but I did not like this movie. Well, it has the pacing of my 97 year old grandmother. Going upstairs. Going upstairs.
But you gotta understand. Is it 1931? Yeah, I know. I was there.
Girl. I was there. I was there. I was a flapper.
When did you first see this movie? About two, three, nine years ago. I was doing, I was trying to watch old horror movies, become more seasoned on the originals. Like originals.
And I watched this. I watched the original Dracula. Dracula is even more boring. I'm sorry.
No, honestly I haven't. TVH. I haven't seen any of the original Dracula movies and I know they're going to be bad. But I'm running.
We'll get there. I'm running. Listeners, don't be scared when we get me. You see Dracula pop up in your feed.
Watch it. Where would he be today if we didn't have a really slow moving monster? I'm really glad to watch. And there's the scene back first.
But I do appreciate where it was. And what it is. Because you had to like, try to think of like a very church friendly analogy. But you got a trip before you can run.
I don't know fucking now. If we didn't have Frank and Simon have the movie we had today. Trip before you can run. Before you took a good sprint, you're going to be in Atlanta.
Growing up in a time. Let's just get into it. Entering. So this was actually, okay.
So the guy in the beginning, it starts off with the actor playing Dr. Wallman comes in and he really warns the audience. He's like, listen, motherfuckers. Oh, I didn't realize I was the same actor.
I didn't either. Fun fact. Do you want girl? Lot of white faces.
A lot of white faces. That was the time. Maripals never great. But he, the same actor who played Dr.
Wallman, his name is Edward Van Sloan. He also played Dr. Van Helsing in later movies. Fun fact.
That's like kind of fun in retrospect. But then I was like, Dracula. Ooh, I believe so. He is huge.
He's part of the, yeah, wait, have you ever seen that movie? It's so. That's a movie I watched as a 12 year old boy. And that's the perfect group to watch the movie.
I loved it. That's a drama. Because I have a big memory of him stabbing some kind of empire and them screaming and a whole thing that's stupid. I just remember being a terrible writer.
But he, yeah, he went on to play Dr. Van Helsing and he mentions that Carl Lamel wants me to mention this and that. Carl Lamel was the head of the University of the Temple. He fucking created a new university.
Yeah, so it's kind of cool. It's kind of, it's just a representative of the time. You know, Carl. You know, the guy who owns the studio wants to let you know that you're about to do some spooky shit.
I love the opening, the warning intro. Because it's like, and I don't know if this is true, but if I made a movie that was supposed to be scary and I watched it back and I was like, this isn't scary. The best way to make your audience think it's scary is to tell them at the beginning. Yeah, gonna be scary.
Girl, you wanna be scared. But like, okay, when I was, I was looking at some stuff, I was on facts and like, it seems like everyone on set was super freaked out by this movie. What? They were like, that, I mean, the thing about it.
Like they never seen, like the idea of like Boris Karloff wearing fucking electrodes, he can have his neck and like his dead arm for some reason was so horrifying. Like they were like concerned about the little girl with Maria. They were concerned about her being, oh my god, wait. Maybe it's something like, I'm gonna make it work out.
Maybe it was something before, you know, the internet and television. People didn't really see, like we all do on a daily basis, running images and running corpses. So maybe the, you know, idea of seeing that at your job. And the word, in the words of my grandfather, if you wanna watch a real scary movie, watch the news.
In 1931, he's a very intense overall, he's not even listening because he doesn't own a computer. He used to write a read phone up until like two years ago. But like, I think for the time period, like this was a scary shit ever seen, which is funny in retrospect because it's a freaky, not scary or aggressive. It's so slow paced.
No, it's not. I liked what it's he do. He goes, he says, he's like, so if you want to leave now and he got like giggles. Yes, well, we warned you.
Okay. Well, I already paid a 15 cents to get into this movie with my wife. What's the pressure I'm saying? We're skipping breakfast with us.
We've been able to popcorn. The room in the bag is rotten and the feel. But it's so true though. They were like, well, we've already made it here.
But that wasn't scary shit. I suppose. I guess. I'm gonna stop shitting on the movie so much.
No, sure. Okay, so then we go to the credits and there's images underneath the credits that have nothing to do with the movie. It's like swirling eyes. Whoa, eyeball.
It looks like some sort of like genie-esque. A little dolly. Yeah, like one eyed man, which is never even a game. Yeah, there's like some eyes and a giant like, hurt.
And then the best part, it goes, like the doctor sounds so, the monster. The monster. The monster. The monster.
The monster. The monster. The monster. The monster.
The monster. The monster. The monster. The monster.
The monster. I mean, kind of shyness like a monster. She's like, what's the other thing? The monster.
She's like the monster. She's like one of the worst random questioned answer unbeaten all over the world. DonnaIT theatre. Donna is now the monster.
Welcome to state Carter Gray. All right well I was raised on classical music and Brigadier. What? That explains a lot.
What? That you're so intelligent. So in fact in the I looked up how the monster was described in the book because the how they did his face in the movie is like way different. So the makeup was done by Jackie Pierce who literally the makeup is under universal copyright from 2026.
So don't even try to comment on Cody. Don't even try. Should I take up my Frankenstein? I'm wearing full Frankenstein thread right now.
Is that yeah get your get that nasty face. Oh god. No. He's just laughing.
Taking it off the makeup. Oh my god. I love it. Left was in the neck, the flat head.
That's all Jackie Pierce got left. Love the flat head. A little cop on there. Hey Frankenstein.
Monster. I'm sorry. Yeah. Monster.
Monster of mine. Kind of spaces on her head. Thanks. I just found these books and she's walking on the block.
Do you like as like a literary kid I remember being really proud that I knew that Frankenstein wasn't the name of the monster. It was the name of the doctor. What if the doctor was the monster? You understand?
No I get it. Honestly I don't mean this book until college. I never read it. Oh really?
I actually read it in college. I think it was because I had to take English course with the major. This is so boring. My teacher was like I had to take English and my teacher was super cool and he was like to give a fuck.
He cursed. You know like when you're a sophomore in college I had an earth science teacher in high school that cursed on the first day of school and I heard literally all the way out to where it's coming at. He said tell your mom. What do you say?
What do you say? about all? But I said I looked up how the monsters described the book because I forgot. And the book he described as eight feet tall.
God bless. KDC ugly. My favorite type of man. But since it's emotional again.
My favorite type of man. With translucent yellowish skin pulled so taught over the type of over the over his skin. That it barely disguised the workings of the arteries and muscles underneath so you could see that should work. I mean listen I'm pale enough that you can see my veins.
Oh yeah. So yeah. Feed my Frankenstein honey. So now I know that you're alive and you're on a thing about my imagination.
I love it. What else? Oh watery glowing eyes. That is you.
flowing black hair. You. Black lips again. It was prominent white teeth.
How did this motherfucker have white teeth? They were like 1800s. First of all. They were like we gotta get him one one win.
He doesn't have a good one. That was the most handsome Baron in the land is grave. What if I like my god. Also I just think it's bullshit that Mary Shelley was originally titled as Mrs.
Percy Shelley. Yeah. Yeah like my asshole. Fuck you.
Why don't you like 20 years old when she wrote this? 19. You know when I was 19? Oh I don't.
I do know and I cannot say on the air. Oh I took a little one. I know I did. I ate a lot of pasta and took a lot of apps watching the Kardashians.
Actually it was probably my most innocent time. That's yeah. Unless I was there. Honestly.
I love the story of Mary Shelley writing Frankenstein though. Then she comes to just they were they were hold up in the weekend in some. Yeah I think they're like into the weekend and they're like oh totally do. Let's see.
I think it was more like um what do it what what what what what what what what do you do the most frightening and spine dealing started thinking possibly think up. What is this? Who are you? The most British person in the world.
I'm trying to be very like the douches. I mean I guess I mean like I guess if you're like just like so casually we have a weekend off to write a novel I guess you're living a pretty cool way. Right. I also I do like that she invented sci-fi horror actually.
Yeah not a funny problem. It's fine. Yeah. Just 19.
Whatever. I thought it was. When I was 19 I invented crying in touch I can say which I mentioned massive anxiety. Oh my god.
Well god bless bitch because I think I was like in seconds being like what 40? If you said that to her at the time should have fainted for seven days. I know the grandoskin episodes. When we go on do our billet ed excellent venture type tour we go back in time and he's here right.
I don't say that to her face. No maybe. We'll say oh and I said I'm to the blues for maybe shitty. Yeah I'll say that.
Yeah. I mean to that. So back to me. Oh so it starts with the funeral scene correct.
Oh god yeah this is a slow phase. Well the thing is we can like we're gonna set it up and then we're gonna just like zoom right here. It's not really happening. So it starts off like someone's getting buried.
You know they put a microphone in that fountain. Did you also read the IMD first? Yes just say for the listeners. Um they put a microphone in the coffin to amplify the sound of the journey in the kufen.
I know. I know. Also the editing this movie is like not the best but again it's not everyone. You had a fucking hand cut that scissors.
Yeah and like yeah listen there's so much going on. I'm not going to judge you. I also buy me the beam judging though. You can see.
Let's go right in. Um the painted the matte painting backgrounds and maybe this is just because you were watching a nice like DVD copy on a nice TV but you could see the wrinkles in the background. Yeah you could see where like so much of just plugged in a steamer and it's like uh looks like little kinks out but no one. Um it's okay because it happens at the end of the movie too.
They have the same backdrop then it's wringles fuck and like you see the scene where someone's so dead up and it's kind of amazing. Yeah um but yeah it's someone's being buried and buried and buried and oh honey his name is Invictor Frankenstein as we all were. I was Nor is his little friend's name Igor. It's Henry Frankenstein and Fritz which also was the name of the brother and the nutcracker.
So like what the fuck is up with people named Fritz? Yeah. In some sort of nutcracker. Why'd you pull that?
I don't know. I'm just dropping back. Wow. Um just don't name her child Fritz because he's gonna be a little bastard.
Fritz is the little ass ass ass who like breaks the goddamn nutcracker right? Yeah so I'm talking about it. I mean I wasn't a record. Oh honey.
Oh honey were you the main angel? There's a lot of answers. I know but I was like really bad. Yeah because I wasn't like good enough to get a snowflake.
I'm still very sensitive about it. Anyway 2003. Snowflake. Yes.
Snowflake. I was trying to make a uh like a uh uh uh uh Oh like a snowflake. Oh you mean like I'm unique and beautiful and like can't be tamed? Yeah I'm a snowflake.
Snowflake. Snowflake. Can't be tamed. I was trying to think of the role three.
Yeah. Good job. Um yes. Great.
Uh so that happens um and then they try to take the dead body which is fine is what you do. That's it. You don't have to take the body for some reason anymore. Girl that's why I'm on the uh donor.
Oh take literally everything. Take my skin. I want my coffin to be full of just like nothing. Yeah.
I want to be full of googly eyes. Gotcha bitch. What are you doing? Where's your body?
It's like donate to science. I don't know. Seriously. Burnt.
Um oh so they watch that. That's why they take the body and then they find some dude just hanging. Hey just hanging out. So we got it.
And Fritz, wait I will be editing the scene. So Fritz climbs up and he releases this dead body which is the same. It's the same dummy that they use later for Fritz's dead body and possibly later when they throw the doctor off the window. Um but Fritz climbs up he takes it down and then they have a shot of Dr.
Frankenstein in the ground looking at the dead body that's just been dropped and Fritz's voice offspring goes I'm jumping now. I mean just jump but he just like falls into the shot. It couldn't even afford to have his actor just like jump off the fucking beam. Also narrating your stage directions and your hour.
Fritz jumps. Listen they had a budget. They got placed a beam. So then the next big thing is that happens is Fritz.
I almost said you know again. I go. Fritz is stealing got a steal of brain. Oh my god.
Okay so uh the quick little turn that they never say like where or when this takes place. And it's like noticeable because in the fashions you're not sure if it's like early 1800s or late 1800s. Um so I think it was written in the early 1800s. Nobody knows.
Um no one knows what it was. No one knows what it was about. Um so it's interesting because like the fashions don't make sense and like especially when they show like the classroom scene with the doctor. Yes very 1930s which is one of his friends.
But like it feels like he's from the medieval times. Yeah he has a plane. I don't know why I'm near my fucking baby. Um but I'm sorry I just can't help but think of like the young Frankenstein scene where he like goes and grabs the brain and he drops the good one.
There's one that's like admirable do not steal this one but he takes it. But that is not not what it actually happens with the movie. He drops the yellow brain and he's just like this one will do and that he says. A criminal brain.
Yeah. Which also. Listen it's not the fault of your brain that make you a thief. It's the capitalist brainwashing that we I'm not gonna actually go into it but you know what you know it's not.
You know what I'm listening to now. Oh my god. Okay so he grabs the abnormal brain he's like this and makes sense. That's what I'm doing.
Oh so um another cool thing about makeup actually I didn't mention. They purposely made his arms look darker so the skin looks more dead. Which makes my nipples hard. Which doesn't.
But I just love the health on that it's from like a Halloween point of view. Yeah. Not in the reality. And then he's got like when he's like living honey he's less.
Oh my. He's living. Back back to life. Back back back back.
I was just gonna say there should be a drag queen version of Frankenstein but wait that exists. It's called Rocky Horror Picture Show. I mean not now. Yeah.
No literally that's what I thought. I remember I was like I should work on my vocal fry. Yes. That's all I fucking do.
And said let's just drag her before. So the riverbed. Oh my god. Yes.
Oh my god. This guy. Me. Um okay so we then we also meet Elizabeth who's like she's like Henry's like yeah.
I was like this but just so unpalented. You want to hear about this bitch? You personally called out her eyebrows immediately. You were like I think you just were like eyebrows and I didn't have to ask if that was a good or bad thing.
I just knew. I don't remember if I liked them or not. They were super thin right? But I kind of was like I'll wait down until I curl like hair like.
Okay. I mean like I was such a good thin brow. I don't know. I was just especially after the psycho viewing.
I'm just making a pretty nice looking footage out of house. Yeah. I'm like oh I'm just gonna go back to her home. Um so I was like not impressed by her acting this movie.
I assumed uh shitty on my part I'll say it. I assumed she was like someone's wife. I was like she's got someone's wife on this cousin because like I thought I was like in a VRuby killer situation. Like if you were super secondary.
Like Ruby killer who played so I was like terrible but she was someone's wife. Yeah. I figured this could be that situation which makes me a dick. I don't care.
Turned out she would perform at you know the Strand in your career. Sure. Yes. I don't know.
There was me called Strand Theater. I had like a nightclub that was on her roof and she was a dancer and a performer. I'm just saying I supported her so much and she played like she was in a couple movies playing sex workers all the time. Damn.
She was in the public enemy which means funny and then she was like in this and she was terrible. But yeah but she was a fuck on the web. I just say that to me too. I want to hop on the train.
She's just like oh I'm just so stressed. Oh she's like lying on this park. This mansion. This mansion honey.
His dad is the Baron. Oh that man. Daddy Baron. Oh honey I'm Baron.
Just thinking about it. I'm so sorry. Come on. I'm sorry.
Come on. Come on. So anyway we get back to the lab for the first time she said that set is really cool. A lot of goodies of shadows.
Yes. All the sets are really slanted and like very German expressionistic right doctor. Doctor Kelly Gargie. Yes.
I just agree with you so much. You know that I was obviously was Ken struck that in and he wasn't credited for this movie. The electric machines he created but they use his machines and young Frankenstein and they credited him in that. So they kind of worked out.
Thank you. Also more importantly he's getting credit on this podcast. I'm sure he's sitting at home on his laptop. Oh I don't think he's alive.
I really I don't think he's alive. Help me not. Well Ken this is for you. Just pour a beer on my rug.
I just don't feel right. That's for you. Don't turn no. That's not the carpet.
Oh Jesus Christ. God damn it. All right so I don't know. His fiance is like less than I feel.
Okay was that other dude? Whose name was Victor? Which was confusing? Yes.
Was he his brother or his friend? Like Trillina. I feel like he's a ball. Because if your brothers you can't be friends.
Oh. Hear that my three brothers. Oh sorry. You're not friends.
They were friends. But like I don't know it just seems unclear because it's like I don't know. I also they had a kind of like so there's a scene. Right.
He was like. So sorry. And Doc Deflangenstein's father's parlor. It looked like and Elizabeth and Victor.
He was like they were both trying to be convinced that they had to go rescue him. I mean I mean I mean I mean I mean Elizabeth was also. Oh but I'm so glad. He didn't mean like writing notes.
He's like my I'm so sorry. I have all this work to do. And she was like oh that makes sense. Like no I said I'm on fire.
Yeah. Dump him. Okay. Dump it.
Dump it. She was a windup for that one. Don't want to make actually noise. Bad form.
But he was trying to hit that. Victor. Yeah. They had like a spark.
Not. Nope. Oh because there's like electrical machines. You understand.
They use the waving to bring it to the left. It's just a spark. His armor song. I'm so sorry.
I'm not sorry. It's not a good song. No. Anyway.
So okay so then a lot of stuff happens when I have their hop around. Basically a lot of exposition. They all the trio shows up at the castle and they're like let us in. He's like no no.
No they're knocking. They're knocking at the door. It's forming. And then Henry's like what?
What's going on? And look at the one who just goes. Someone's at the door. Like no shit.
No. Chris got all the lines from like the novel that were like someone was at the door. They gave him the like stage direction. Again.
I'm coming down. Yeah. Someone at the door. I think he says this on the door two times in the night.
Yeah we get that friends. But who the fuck is out the door. Thank you for your so helpful. He's like so glad I'm so glad you're on payroll.
Oh boy. I got to pay you in bread and housing for you to tell me what the fuck I already know. I got to pay you in my four head strokes. Oh my god.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Um but what. So they show up and they're like what I'm like oh wait and they're like and what is it because not even for shelter because it's born rain.
It was a little bit. It was a bit. How did you get here? Go back in your car or whatever you took.
Also yeah it. Who voted you? Sorry. No nobody.
In fact he did the opposite invite. He answered my story. He said keep away. RS not VP.
No. Respond. Not so long. No boo play.
No boo play. Oh sorry. Um but then he elipo they're like what do you think I'm fucking crazy. You know like well no one really said that.
Oh wonderful. It's like your friend and your um acting class like oh I'm fucking nuts and you're like no you're fine. No you're not. You're like no no no.
Oh great. Listen man I'm kind of fucked up. You don't want to get cooked. Yeah.
Oh right. Okay. Okay. We've knew usually several people acting school.
Just too much. So yeah I think he literally is a fine show. Three normal people in one crazy person and they're like what? It's like when you go to someone's apartment and you're like the only drunk person and you're like I'm ready to go and they're like we're just like back in it's like yeah please come back.
We're just watching Frazier for another doing anything crazy. Um and he's like fun fact I've been collecting these dead bodies. I sewed them together. Maybe I don't know.
I'm worried about it. I didn't really talk about it but they're sewing marks on them and uh I'm gonna put this part of life. Can you sew? Me?
I was making a report. I'm sorry. Wait who did she say that too? Like everybody.
Half the company. So I know. Anyway I think we're some dead bodies. I've together.
I made one dude out of it. We're gonna set this dude. Don't worry about it. I'm just gonna get kind of pumped.
But like get your dick ready because he'll be cool as fuck. So what do you say? Is that what happens? PAP PAP PAP.
Ladies and gentlemen prepare your penises for the show. And then goes out the electricity like PAP PAP PAP. That's hilarious. And then he says uh I know what it's like to be God and that shit was censored.
Now I know what it's mmm let me pull the exact quote. That's a good quote. Yeah he's like oh I just won. I just got 15% off my car and trans way.
What the fuck. Here's the fuck. And I know what it's like to be God. I hate this show.
It's um okay. Here's the oh in the name of God. Now I know what it feels like to be. And the censors were like wait wait hold on a second.
You don't know what it's like to be God because our lord and savior Jesus Christ doesn't you should know. Yeah exactly. But then they tried to put it back because it's a really great line. Yes I mean it was censored in certain places as was the um scene of Marie the child.
Oh yeah. The child being thrown into the lake later. Yeah. And then it was restored in the 80s.
And that's how we see it today. But again that speaks volumes about like how sensitive the audience was this time is like just the image of like a young girl getting thrown into a lake with like trigger much. Was like so sorry. Maybe it was so upset.
But like they just threw her in. It wasn't like she was like no help. I mean she was she said you're hurting me. She said when he picked her up it wasn't like which like he wasn't hurting her.
He was picking her up. Yeah come on. Buck up Marie. Getting more re-giver shit together.
But nobody's gonna be like if we're like in jaws how in jaws people drown. It's a very specific way that makes your like bottle like like that's very scary. But like it's done so broadly and just like whoop you just throw the rain. I've been thrown in worse.
That's what I mean. It's like not a huge deal. People like Buck John about it. So um the body gets a zippy zapped and oh oh look at that.
Oh it's the hands of no vane. It's a lie. It's a lie. I mean when it's like to be got it.
Oh my god she's living. She's living. She's living. She's feeling good.
And then they're like oh my god this man was not alive in that way. Wow. Um and then they're like oh hey you know be really cool let's put it in this room and that looks like she'll look like she'll look like. Well first they keep them in the dark for a while.
Right. But then I like that. Well in the story time it sounds not reality. No I feel bad for him.
But I like it as a plot to fight. I know I like it. No I like it. Let him stuff it in the dark.
Saaah. But then they're like hey let's see how we react to sunlight and he's like yay hey son this feels good. Um yeah yeah yeah. Not me once once you're done.
Bye. He's not a freshman. Literally me yesterday when he was like kind of nice. I'm like he's literally holding his hands out and like tickling the sun games.
I mean when it's like May 1st. Yeah yeah. I don't think it's like October 1st and you're like no. That's cool.
They can't wait to be sat. Oh my god girl was so close for almost out of him baby. Um so like cool here about this guy he's a fun time. Oh well first the first appearance of Frankenstein walking around.
They opened the door and he walks in first. Literally just for like the drama the reveal. Literally he's a little bit driving ready. He's like y'all ready for this b**** as he walks in backwards then he just kind of is.
Get her is. Get her is. What's that category? Flathead realness.
Oh my god. Serving Tresga. I was like they pre-recorded their voices like I'm just going out for the morning cocktails and I hope I don't get a big head. But yeah.
Um but yeah. Andro's backwards. Every day the sewing child when you're back is made of the rest. Oh my god that's kind of funny.
It's kind of funny. Oh kind of. I'm just it. No but I love how they're like here's the monster and like slowing him or his back.
Because when I get to him I enter backwards. Right. Well that's because you're just like look at this. It's my best feature.
Honestly though. You're my own lord. If I enter but first. I enter the world but first you know this.
Really? Yeah. I was um uh breach birth is that the word? I think so.
Yeah. I was like oh my god. So I came into the world. The world would go out.
As per. My ass up. It's like it's one. It was a uh it was a pre-monition.
They're like what if like there was a point in time there may have been when they're like hey listen your son is born as per as he's probably gonna be blind. They're like we ran some tests. Oh no. Oh my god.
So you might want to tell me about how we have some words. Because we have something serious to talk about. We have some brochures. What to do with your son's and bottom.
Oh my god. So people actually need to be coached through that. Oh my god. Yeah.
I don't need to learn about trigonometry. I'm like what to eat at the bottom. I meant oh Jesus. I meant coach through like accepting their bottom.
