FRANKLIN ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TABLE AND OTHER NON-RANDOM OFFENSES

Did you ever notice that in It's a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving that Franklin (the only black child in the Charlie Brown universe) is compelled to sit alone on the opposite side of the table from the other (non-black) children. At the time the Powers That Be probably thought that this conciliatory bone was a wonderful gesture but it was actually symptomatic of a broad range of insults and impositions in the media that affected and continue to affect generations of people of color. Join us as we identify and decode some of the unsettling ways that people of color were/are demeaned and maligned with "civility."
