Frederick: A Story of Boundless Hope is told to Dr. Marissa in person

from Get Balanced With Dr Marissa Pei

How does a 15-year old boy grow up after having his hands chopped off by a dull machete in the Rwandan Genocide, because he refuses to kill innocent people, and not marinade in the bitterness of unforgiveness? Hear the amazing inspirational story from Frederick firsthand as he remembers the anger and futility the first year in the hospital, his failed suicide attempt and his forgiveness of his attacker because it "unbound me from him". His 'tragedy' has turned him into a Light in the Darkness and makes him a recipient of Dr. Marissa's Beneficial Presence on the Planet Awardee as he returns to his home country to work with 'people like me'. With supporters/guests like Jessica McCall and Linda from Jessie's Place, and Rev. Carolyn Wilkins Director of the Global Works Ministry at the Agape International Spiritual Center, Frederick tours our country to bring awareness and an opportunity for us to help him bring fresh water, Hope and Happiness to those who have lost limbs and lives at the Ubumwe Community Center in Gisenyi Rwanda, Africa. Frederick just published his inspirational life in a book called Frederick: A Story of Boundless Hope, which he says helps himself and by telling the story, helps others as well. As he was determined to live fully, Frederick has learned to dress, write, and even paint without hands. In the gift copy of his book for me, he writes a message of gratitude for me and my show, bringing me to tears. To help, go to www.Jessies-Place.com. Staff interpreter Sharon Pierre-Louis helps make this another Radio for Our Deaf Community episode.
