On Tuesday, April 3 at approximately 7 p.m. in the 3200 block of West 109th Street in Inglewood, Fredrick Martin III, 28, was shot twice in the chest and stomach after pushing his 8-year-old son to the ground in an effort to save his life. April 6, 2012 AUDIO AVAILABLE AFTER 2PM PDT Fredrick Martin was killed shielding 8-year-old son from gunfire Tuesday and now family is on a mission to find his killers View Larger Map On Tuesday, April 3 at approximately 7 p.m. in the 3200 block of West 109th Street in Inglewood, Fredrick Martin III, 28, was shot twice in the chest and stomach after pushing his 8-year-old son to the ground in an effort to save his life. The child was grazed by a bullet. The shooting was one of three in the city that evening according to City News Service. Along with Martin, his best friend Joey Hickman was shot but has already been released from the hospital. Martin, is listed on Facebook as graduate of Westchester High School and Texas Southern University and was expecting his second child with his wife Amanda Martin. Their one-year anniversary would have been on May 11. Neither Martin nor Hickman are gang affiliated. Memorial Fund A memorial fund had been established to support his son and wife who is expecting.
