Free Expression Friday: Fighting Texas Book Bans with Laney Hawes, Texas Freedom to Read Project

Free Expression Friday is an interview series from ABA's American Booksellers for Free Expression celebrating the amazing work of booksellers, organizers, and book people in general fighting for the right to read. Founding member of the Texas Freedom to Read Project, Laney Hawes was just a normal parent who wanted the best education possible for her kids. But when she realized that her school board had been taken over by book banners with deep pockets, and that the same thing was happening all over Texas and the US, she realized she had to do something. In this episode, Laney speaks to ABFE about helping to found the Texas Freedom to Read Project, the organization on the front lines of fighting Texas Book Bans. Read the interview on ABA's Blog.
