While floodwater may appear harmless, it can hide serious dangers. Floodwater is often deeper and moving faster than it appears, making it difficult to judge whether it is safe to cross. Fast-moving water can sweep people off their feet, while murky water can conceal debris, sharp objects, washed-out roads, and other hazards.
