Welcome to the tweet trends podcast. Hey, what's trending today? Hey, I mean, hey girl And you are tuned in to try and it's the quickest way to find out what's trending today Today is national no broad day. Let's get started.

Hey there. Welcome back to tweet trends I hope you had a great weekend I surely did and I want to share a little bit of it with you before we get started So I went to a virtual women's conference this weekend now I'd gone to the same conference last year and it was great and when it rolled around this time and they said it was gonna Be virtual I was a little leery. I'm like, I don't know about a conference at my house by myself a type deal But I went ahead and said, you know, what the heck what am I gonna do anyway at home? Sign up for it now this particular conference was put on by purpose her and purpose her is a nonprofit organization That's designed to provide young ladies and women with inspiration and affirmation to fulfill their God-given purpose makes sense, right?

Well while at the conference well first off, you know, before I even jump to that I was I was loving the conference They put a lot of thought into who they had as presenters and the messages that each one of them brought it was absolutely awesome I'm glad I decided to go ahead and do it now while I was there though They made an announcement about our region's health care 3d mobile mammography unit And they're saying that it's gonna be coming in the area and that if you are interested in getting a mammography Then you know go ahead and sign up and then it hit me. I'm like, oh my goodness My next show is gonna fall on national no broad day. What do you know? How cool is that now a little transparency though?

Since the start of the pandemic when everything kind of fell apart in March till now I can count on two hands the number of times that I have worn a formal bra, you know, clasps and everything, you know, adjustable straps that type of deal Two hands I can count it and it might even be one hand if I think really hard But I'm gonna give myself a benefit of the doubt and say I can count on two hands the number of times that I've worn a traditional bra Now that's not to say I got the girls just hanging out doing their own thing But what I am saying is that sports bras have been my best friend I felt like I am in my PJs all day and I don't care what anybody has to say about that. That's me. I'm gonna do me If you want to wear a broad everyday Boo do you okay? But me I've been loving the sports bras the sporty look the yoga pants the works, okay?

But that's neither here nor there today is national no broad day and although some people may think that it's just an opportunity to leave You're brought home. It's actually more importantly bringing awareness to breast cancer breast cancer awareness Breast cancer screenings all of the above, you know, so we're gonna talk about those things today Raise your hand if you do your monthly self-breast exam So I would like to think that everyone under the sound of my voice has their handheld high and proudly stating that yes I do my self-breast exam, but sadly I Don't think that's the case because so many of us are so busy doing so many things I feel like the majority of us just kind of push that off to the side and it's like yeah Yeah, I'll get to it tomorrow now I know The times that I've had the shower hanger where it has the information about it in the shower and you see it while you're in there those have been the times that I have been More on point with keeping track of that however in moving from place to place And you know sometimes those things the plastic gets all hard and then it starts to crumble in a little pieces and it's Sticks you in the foot in the shower and then you just grab it and throw it in the trash. I get it I understand but we got to maintain the diligence We got to stay the course because the first line of defense is the monthly self-breast exam Now the best time to do the exam is about 10 days after the onset of your cycle however You have to be familiar with your breasts. Nobody should know your breasts better than you they're with you 24 7 365 366 on a leap year, okay?

Nobody should know your breasts better than yourself. It's okay to feel on your breasts. They're yours and And if you don't know what they feel like on any given day then when you do decide to do your breast exam Let me tell you what's gonna happen. You're gonna feel something weird You're gonna freak out you're gonna be mad because you can't get into the doctor fast enough to see what it is and Bottom line is that your breasts they change throughout the month depending on your hormones and where you are within your cycle So, you know that's something you need to get used to something you need to know about like okay I'm at this point in my cycle and Yep, breasts are feeling about like how they normally do around this time and then that way you have a baseline So that when you do go around that same time of the month and you're like okay It should be feeling like this and you feel something a little weird now you got something to go off of now when you go to the doctor You can say hey, I normally do myself breast exam But this time was a little bit different Can you check and see what you think now if you just know for sure that you you tried and tried and you just cannot seem to get on a Schedule to do your own exam then definitely when you get your annual appointment You make sure that they do the breast exam now the doctors are pretty good about doing it So you don't have to remind them But you know even if you have to be a little transparent and let them know hey look I don't normally do this but you got to understand too though the doctor don't know your breasts like you should know your Breast so that's why I say it's best to be a part of that whole process so that when you do notice something you can go Hey, hey, hey, you can help over here Come check me out, please Now lastly let's talk about the dreaded mammogram Who if you've never had a mammogram?

All I'm gonna say is when it's time for you to have one done Put your big girl panties on and deal with it. It's not gonna be a great experience No matter how you flip it how you turn it. I don't think it's better for any one person Because everybody goes through the same Manipulation if I can use that word Yeah, so One of the things that I think is a problem with being a woman is that women hold women secrets You don't share your experiences with other women and therefore when they get to that point They're kind of like oh my gosh. I had no idea This was gonna happen to me and then they're traumatized case in point It has nothing to do with no broad a but I had my first child I had a c-section and I thought because I had a c-section they had to cut me open that I was good well I Bled I had no idea.

I was like I thought something was wrong. I did a little buzzer for my nurse I was like oh my gosh and meeting and she's like yeah That's why we gave you these pads and stuff and I'm sitting like but I had a c-section and she's like well honey That doesn't change things. You're still gonna bleed so it's like oh, okay. Well, thank you for the information I'm gonna take that and run with it.

Nobody told me that so the same thing with a mammogram nobody told me that I understand in a sense why nickname for breasts for some people is nini Because they probably had a mammogram and it made them think of a panini Then nini's in a pan getting smashed together that The mammogram is about when I tell you that they try to get you as close to this machine as possible You have to hug it and grip it and put an arm here and there and they try to get every little tiny piece of breast tissue in That machine Now somebody one of these days I'm gonna create a machine that's going to be user friendly and I don't even know what you would call the person Uzi you got the user in the Uzi Uzi friendly where it's not going to be so bad Like maybe something like a vacuum where you put it on your breasts and it kind of pulls it out you know like suction cup typing and that way because All I'm saying is put your big girl panties on when you go get a mammogram You're not gonna have fun, but when it's over and you get those results and they tell you that you're good Then you can go out and celebrate do something go bralas do what you do, but yeah It's one of those necessary evils in life as a woman and as a man though don't get a twisted man get breast cancer too So man you might be laughing now, but I think you need to go get your check too All right, well that was today's episode of Tweet trends I hope you decide to celebrate no broad day today by possibly going bralas because you know there's something I didn't mention it earlier But going bralas is pretty big especially for a woman who has had breast cancer and survived it and maybe had to get a mastectomy or a double mastectomy Thinking about them and then think about going bralas. That's a big deal Especially if they use a prosthesis because unless it has some type of adhesive on it That's going to stick it or adhere it to their bodies going bralas means going without their prosthesis as well And for a lot of women losing their breast is a very traumatic thing because that's one of those things we look at as Something that separates us from the boys that makes us feminine and attractive So going bralas it it means a whole lot more and it shows support it shows you care It shows a lot so why not use today as a day to go to your calendar and Remind yourself to do your monthly breast exam like literally put it on your calendar Share your experience with getting a mammogram like I did and let somebody know take that mystery out of what a mammogram is like for people Who haven't had one or maybe they're about to go get their first one Set an appointment for a mammogram if you're in that window 35 to 40 plus go ahead and do it Don't be afraid, you know, I don't know if anybody has ever died getting a mammogram. So, you know, just do it if you want organize a fundraiser, who knows maybe a virtual party or something and Basically, oh one more thing. How about get your pink on snap a selfie use the hashtag no broad day or national no broad day Something like that make a contribution to the American Cancer Society or Susan G.

Coleman for the cure There are so many things you can do today to make a difference some counting on you.
