Free yourself from Imposter Syndrome with Dr. Valerie Young

from Live Well Be Well with Sarah Ann Macklin | Health, Lifestyle, Nutrition · host Sarah Ann Macklin

Imposter syndrome is defined as doubting your own abilities and feeling like a fraud. A google search yields more than 5 million responses.  Imposter syndrome has been said to people such as, Sheryl Sandberg the COO of Facebook and even first lady Michelle Obama. What I feel seems to be less explored is why does imposter syndrome exist in the first place and what role does our surroundings and workplace play? Is it that we change and re evaluate our thought processes as individuals? Maybe. But how much is our external environment and society influencing us? Imposter phenomenon is associated with impaired job performance, decreased satisfaction at work and burnout.  To help me explore this further, I speak to phenomenal Dr. Valerie Young. Dr Young is an internationally-known expert on imposter syndrome and author of award-winning book The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women: Why Capable People Suffer from the Imposter Syndrome and How to Thrive in Spite of It.  Handles: The host @sarahannmacklin Be Well @be_well_collective  Valerie Young website: www.impostorsyndrome. com  Valerie's book can be purchase here
