from Wilder Wellness · host Kristen Ales, LPC + Kristin Mathes, LCSW

If the traditional 9-5 lifestyle freaks you out a little - you’re not alone. Maybe you're considering ditching the 9-5 for something a little more untraditional that allows for more flexibility, time to travel or spend on adventures. After all, working remotely just requires wifi! In this episode, we talk with Isobel Griffin, a copywriter for small adventurous brands who operates her business fully remote. We talk about the glamor and the allure of creating our own schedules, having time flexibility for those mid-day yoga classes, and the freedom to work virtually from anywhere in the world. But any sort of freedom can come at a high cost - We get real about the difficult aspects of remote work that are not glamorous and sometimes jeopardize the freedom we craved in the first place! In fact, it often requires great skill in boundaries, and discipline to avoid becoming a slave to the work. In this episode we explore: 1. The freedom remote work creates and can offer more space/ time to connect to outdoor recreation, getting outside, and traveling - virtually anywhere! 2. The importance of allowing yourself to pivot - take up a new career path or completely change our mind about what you want to study!  3. The reality that working remote can feel really isolating and lonely, with connection and relationship feeling more difficult to attain and maintain.   4. The extra importance of strong boundaries in our relationship to work given work is carried with us everywhere.  You can find Isobel by visiting her beautiful website or Instagram @isobel.griffin You can learn more about the hosts Kristen Ales, LPC, and Kristin Mathes, LCSW by visiting their websites.
