Freedom in Christ (The Deep End) | Gal 5:1–6, 13–14

The Shallow End: The world's counterfeit for freedom is autonomy — freedom from obligation, constraint, and belonging to anyone, which sounds like liberation but is really just the self turned inward on itself. The Deep End: Paul's freedom in Galatians 5 is not freedom from others but freedom for them — liberated from the self-securing, performance-for-belonging system precisely so you can love the way Christ loves, which is the only thing the flesh was never capable of.
