Fresh, Healthy Fruit and Yogurt Salad

from A Savory Moment by Life At The Table

Fresh, Healthy Fruit and Yogurt Salad Forget the fruit salads of the past. It’s time for an upgrade! Remember school lunches with those little single-serving cans of fruit cocktail? And then the inevitable “bland from a can” fruit salad at every family potluck? Every bite tasted the same, didn’t taste much like fruit, and probably scarred you for life from any type of fruit salad. Leave behind those little bites of syrupy, high-sugar canned fruit cocktails. It’s Time For a Fruit Salad Revolution It’s time for a fruit salad revolution. Get ready for a delicious, modern take on a fruit salad so that you never think of this of that tasteless conglomeration of canned fruit ever again. Use real, fresh fruit instead with my Fruit and Yogurt Salad recipe. First, this fruit salad packs a delicious and healthy protein punch. Wait? Protein? Just where does this protein come from? It comes from Greek yogurt which is a thicker version of regular yogurt because the whey, w-h-e-y, has been strained from it in the production process. For this reason Greek yogurt is more protein-dense than regular yogurt providing 12-17 grams of protein per serving. It has a high fat content which gives it a rich taste, so it doesn’t require the added sweeteners you’ll often find in regular yogurt. And it’s loaded with probiotics that promote healthy digestion, plus calcium, phosphorous and vitamin D for healthy bones. Use Fresh Fruit Second, this tasty recipe is ready to take on any personality you give it by using fresh, in-season fruit. My recipe suggests fresh pineapple, fresh mandarin orange segments, and a crunchy apple. But honestly, this fruit salad will taste delicious with any fruit mixture that makes your tastebuds dance, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, etc. Make it on a weekend and store it in the refrigerator. Serve it for breakfast. Pack it for lunches or serve it after a weekday supper to satisfy a craving for something sweet. It will be just a trick though as there’s no added sugar only the natural sugars of the fruit and yogurt. Fair warning: this recipe will not bring back memories of grade school. And I think that’s a good thing! Print Fresh, Healthy Fruit and Yogurt Salad Print Recipe Pin Recipe 5 Stars 4 Stars 3 Stars 2 Stars 1 Star No reviews It’s time for a fruit salad revolution!
