Frida Kahlo | The Two Fridas

from Who Arted: Weekly Art History for All Ages · host Kyle Wood

Frida Kahlo was an interesting artist. I first became familiar with her work when I was a teenager after watching a bio pic in an art house theater. She has become an icon of not only art history, but also pop culture. When a person becomes an icon in the popular imagination, it can become a challenge to tell the woman from the myth. If I were to summarize Kahlo in one sentence, I would say she was a feminist surrealist painter berst known for her unflinching self portraits. Who ARTed is an Airwave Media Podcast.
