Part 1 - Host Neville James was joined by Kyle Fleming, Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Energy Office and a member of the WAPA Governing Board, and Dr. Greg Gwinnell of the University of the Virgin Islands for Power Hour.  They discussed recent power outages in St. Thomas and St. John and the urgent steps being taken to stabilize the grid; the technical causes of the outages, outlined emergency generator deployments for St. John, and discussed long‑term strategies including solar, batteries, microgrids, and reduced reliance on fossil fuels amid global energy volatility. Dr. Gwinnell highlighted UVI’s renewable energy workforce programs and accepted a $150,000 Energy Office scholarship investment, underscoring collaboration between WAPA, the VI Energy Office, RT Park, and UVI to build a sustainable energy future for the Virgin Islands.
