In our culture, we don’t particularly like being told what we should or shouldn’t do. America was founded on the idea of popular sovereignty – meaning that the people, not the president, king, or governing body, are the ones who hold the real power. This is a great concept when it comes to human government, but as Pastor Dan reminds us in today’s message, in God’s Kingdom, we’re subject to a greater authority, and we need to submit to Him to experience His blessing.
