Friday Family Film Night: EXIT 8 review
from FRIDAY FAMILY FILM NIGHT · host JoKaGoGe
In which the Mister joins me in reviewing EXIT 8 (2025), with screenplay credits to Kentaro Hirase and Genki Kawamura and based off Kotake Create's video game, the film is directed by Genki Kawamura. A man named "The Lost Man" (Kazunari Ninomiya) finds himself inexplicably trapped in an endless, sterile subway corridor that loops back on itself whenever he makes a mistake. To escape this liminal purgatory, he must meticulously observe his surroundings and follow a strict set of rules: turn back if he spots an anomaly, and proceed only when the hallway appears perfectly normal. As he repeats the journey to reach the elusive "Exit 8," he is forced to confront his own deep-seated anxieties and existential guilt, transforming the simple game-inspired premise into a haunting exploration of isolation and the human condition. The film clocks in at 1 h 35 m, is rated PG-13 and we caught it in theaters.
