Friday Family Film Night: THE FALL review

In which the Kid 1 and 2 join me in reviewing THE FALL (2006), from director Tarsem Singh, a visually breathtaking fantasy drama based on Valeri Petrov's 1981 screenplay "Yo Ho Ho," the film has screenplay credits to Dan Gilroy, Nico Soultanakis and Tarsem Singh.A injured silent-era stuntman named Roy Walker (Lee Pace) recuperates in a Los Angeles hospital bed in 1915 after a nearly fatal accident. To pass the time and manipulate a clever, broken-armed young girl named Alexandria (Catinca Untaru) into stealing morphine for him, Roy begins spinning an epic, swashbuckling tale of five heroic outlaws on a quest for revenge against an evil governor. As Roy's bitter despair bleeds into the fantastical narrative, Alexandria begins weaving her own desires into the story, forcing the two to navigate a blurring line between the tragic reality of Roy's world and the vivid realms of their imagination. The film clocks in at 1 h 57 m, is rated R and is currently streaming on Mubi and to buy/rent on Prime Video.
