Friday March 6 2026 -Scanner News

from Panhandle Scanner News · host Brian Hale

A few school closures on the horizon for today, Friday, March 6. No school in Hyannis due to the weather and no school announced previously by Gering, Bayard, and Minatare. There may be others but those are the ones we knew about early this morning. Last night, scanner traffic indicated a grass fire on Stonegate Road close to a structure just south of County Road G. It ended up being a minor ditch fire and Minatare volunteer fire department was on scene. An intoxicated individual was near 260 table road in Crawford where they drove through a property. County deputies were on scene last night for that incident. And if you haven't heard, two additional felony charges have been filed against the Mitchell Mayor Paul Morell. See the shared article that we posted on our Facebook page on that story. Heavy snow continues to fall this morning over Cheyenne, reducing visibility and creating slick conditions. And we're seeing some moisture here in the Scotts Bluff and Panhandle area as well. Use caution if you travel includes heading west. Attention, important airbag recall. Did you know that more than 25 people have died in the US as a result of this urgent airbag recall the largest in US history? Find more important safety information on our webpage at PanhandleScanner.com. Our website also includes a free community calendar and a free look who's hiring section for employers. Don't forget to spring forward one hour, Sunday at 2am spring forward safely. This also is a good time to test your smoke alarms and change replaceable batteries in your carbon monoxide detectors as well.
