Friday the 13th Moves to HBO Max Before Prequel

The 1980 slasher film Friday the 13th is officially heading to HBO Max on October 1, giving audiences a chance to revisit the origins of Camp Crystal Lake. This streaming debut serves as a timely refresher ahead of the upcoming prequel series titled Crystal Lake, which is scheduled to premiere on Peacock on October 15. Unlike later sequels heavily associated with the hockey-masked Jason Voorhees, the original feature functions as a whodunit centered around his mother, Pamela Voorhees. By shifting the spotlight back to the franchise's roots, the upcoming television project makes the foundational movie an essential watch for horror fans. Additionally, subscribers will also gain access to Freddy vs. Jason on the same day, expanding the seasonal horror lineup on the platform. This episode includes AI-generated content.
