Czeizel Endre orvos-genetikus, az orvostudományok kandidátusa, az MTA doktora volt, akit 1975-ben a "Születésünk titkai", majd 1981-ben a "Jövőnk titkai" televíziós műsorsorozata tette országosan ismertté és kiemelkedően népszerűvé. Szakmai tekintélyét és presztízsét azonban nagyban kikezdte, amikor 1995-ben nyomozást indítottak ellene azért, mert árva gyerekeket közvetített külföldre, miközben csak az akkoriban rendkívül elterjedt abortuszok számát akarta csökkenteni Czeizel és néhány munkatársa azzal, hogy a nem kívánt gyereket hordó terhes nőket örökbefogadni kívánó párokkal hozta össze. Hétéves pereskedés után végül jogerősen csak 200 ezer forint pénzbüntetésre ítélték, de addigra már megrogyott Czeizel Endre szakmai és emberi hite és magabiztossága.
