As followers of Christ, we’re called to reflect His love, His mercy, and His kindness—not just to those who look, think, or act like us, but to everyone. Yet, far too often, we see unfriendliness, unkindness, even outright hostility taking root among those who claim the name of Jesus. Instead of extending grace to the lost or encouragement to our fellow believers, we find ourselves snarling with judgment, bitterness, or un-forgiveness. What does that say to the watching world about the Jesus we profess to follow?Let me tell you something that might sting: Your snarl will never lead anyone to the life-transforming grace of Christ! Your judgment will never soften a hard heart! Your bitterness will never heal a wounded soul! But your smile, your gentle kindness, and your unwavering love? Those can crack through even the toughest defenses! When we approach the world with the same compassion that Yeshua showed—a compassion that embraced tax collectors, touched lepers, and forgave enemies—we show people the very heart of the gospel. The question is, are you showing a heart that invites or a face that frightens? Because eternity is at stake, and the way you carry Christ’s name can be the difference between someone running to Him or running away.Let’s wrestle with this today: Are you friendly or frightening? Inviting or intimidating? A beacon of hope or a barrier to the kingdom? It’s time to take a hard look in the mirror and ask yourself what message you’re really sending to the world. Because in the end, it’s not about our perfection but about the Savior we reflect.
