In Episode 60 I chat with Niko Kapetan of Chicago's up-and-coming Indie Rockers Friko about rare drink tickets, party weeks and hiding out in the green room. Having signed to ATO Records, home to the likes of King Gizzard, Altin Gun, Temples, Trey Anastasio and Primus amongst others, Friko's debut album 'Where we've been, Where we go from here' is due for release on Friday 16th February 2024. Chock full of emotional, poetic and explosive songs and mastered by Heba Kadry (Bjork, Big Thief) it's gotten some good hype in the press pre-release and Friko are setting themselves up to have a big 2024 with plans to tour the album through North America and Europe by the year's end. Niko joined me from Chicago's Humboldt Park neighbourhood to talk about how welcoming the Chicago scene is, being patient on stage and bare bone songs.
