from Oakland News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
On September 11, 2001, a daycare inside the Pentagon was evacuated as smoke billowed — including three-year-old Hanna Born, whose mother, a Lieutenant Colonel, raced to duty while fearing for her daughters. Reunited days later, Hanna and her sister were forever changed, both enlisting in the military to honor those lost and serve others. Now, Hanna is an Air Force Captain and helicopter pilot, her younger sister a Marine First Lieutenant, and together they’re part of a powerful new exhibit at the 9/11 Memorial. Hanna’s running 2,977 miles — one for each victim — while teaching today’s service members the spirit of 9/12: unity, healing, and courage. This year, she’ll join the FDNY for a 34-mile run starting at 8:46 AM, marking the exact moment the first plane struck the North Tower.
